Well Played
Well Played (Vol. 7, No. 2)
a journal on videos games, value and meaning
The Well Played Journal is a forum for in-depth close readings of video games that parse out the various meanings to be found in the experience of playing a game. It is a reviewed journal with CfPs for submissions that will be released on a regular basis with high-quality essays. The iThrive Games mission is to use technology, and games in particular, toward the best interest of teens. We believe that games have the power to help build strengths and cultivate social and emotional learning. We work in various ways to educate game developers about how to design games for prosocial outcomes, to encourage the development of social and emotional learning games, and to promote study about the impact that games can have in this regard. We are pleased to present this special peer-reviewed issue of Well Played as a means of showcasing exciting field work and study about games made for social and emotional learning. iThrive encourages and supports research and scholarship in this area, and is proud to help introduce this collection to the growing worldwide community of scholars and developers who care about creating meaningful experiences that help people.
