This book provides ten important lessons that educators, developers, and digital scientists can glean from appreciating and more deeply understanding the relationship between society, culture, and technology. It includes such topics as the recursive nature of the relationship, the value of terms and standards, the need to adopt an interdisciplinary lens, and the power of being connected. In order to promote learning and application of this information, each lesson is divided into three sections.
- The first is called What? and provides an introduction to the main idea or topic.
- The second section is called So What? and discusses the relevance of the content.
- The final section is called Now What? and addresses direct implications of the lesson.
Readers will begin to see that the relationship has existed long before digital innovations; however, that same relationship is necessary for modern decision-making about technology development, implementation, and evaluation.
